You want to stand out in the crowd and cement your professional reputation. Me Too! If you’re looking for ways to differentiate yourself and make an impact, building a personal brand is a great way to do so. Lucky for all of us who like videos, it has exploded in popularity as an effective way to reach and make personal connections with audiences. It’s a great way to get your message across in an engaging and visual way. With videos, you can create compelling stories that people resonate with.
However, creating a successful personal brand using video marketing takes planning, strategy, and dedication. Who would have thought?
Perhaps you have been making videos for some time just like me. Also just like me you have been in situations where you have to concentrate on other aspects of your business and sacrifice creating long form videos.
Here is the good news. I have been going through my old videos and grabbing segments of them and posting them as short video clips and since it's content I already made it only takes me minutes instead of hours to do so. You can do this. You can dig into your old videos and give them new life. But wait! There's more!
Taking this road you don't have to decide where to post and make it about YouTube Shorts vs TikTok vs reels. Now it can be a situation of posting a shorts video YT, TikTok and Instagram Reels.
I know many marketing influencers would say that you should make content for each platform, You should totally do that when you have the bandwidth to do so. But if you can't. This is totally the next best thing.
Content repurposing examples
I had this conversation with my friend tropical goth influencer Luann Ros who already has thousands of followers on Instagram. She wanted to expand on YouTube and grow her following on TikTok but she as many of us had already lots on her plate.
I suggested to just post the same videos on all platforms to avoid burnout. The results? She grew her TikTok audience from 11,000 followers to 19,000 followers using the same content she was posting on Instagram Reels.
At the moment I haven't been able to create new content for Long form video content for YouTube. But I started making short clips from old content. For example I made a video about the minimum viable audience a few years ago.
The videos length is 4:40. It only got me 77 views which is better than 0. Fast forward I started to repurpose the old videos as shorts. A 40 sec clip of that same video has gotten so far 210 views and got me new subscribers in YouTube. But I also posted the video On Instagram and TikTok because why not?
The short videos have started to grow my following on TikTok and Instagram. I took the clip from the longer video and used canva for the overlays, quickly changed the scaling on premiere pro. Export it and saved the video on Google Drive. That way I could download my own video on my smartphone and upload the video independently on each platform.
So in short (See what I did there - Anyone?... moving on). Repurposing existing content allows businesses and organizations to quickly get their message out without having to invest in creating new content from scratch – which saves both time and money. Now if you want to go further and customize it on each platform you have options as well.
Shorts video YT
Using existing video content can be especially beneficial when it comes to YouTube shorts, as they could also be potentially used for 15 second ads. This makes them an effective way to engage with potential customers while informing them of your products or services in a short amount of time.
By editing an existing longer-form video into smaller segments, brands can also add transitions and music that allow them to still tell their story, but in an exciting way tailored specifically for a YouTube Short audience.
Short Video in TikTok
TikTok videos could also be easily repurposed from existing content. Making full use of the platform’s uniquely creative sound effects and filters, engages users in more exciting ways than traditional forms of marketing content would be able do on its own. I have not done this myself but you have the option if you want to. Companies looking to drive customer loyalty can use humorous or entertaining stories from past campaigns which will help convey the company’s brand values and attract younger audiences who appreciate authentic Brand stories.
Instagram Short Video Reels
Instagram Reels offer a fun new way for businesses to engage with their followers through unique combinations of photos, videos, text overlays, augmented reality effects and even music! To make the most out of reels, companies can tap into user-generated content that already has high engagement rates - such as posts featuring customer pictures - adding special effects and music while maintaining brand consistency across all channels they use for marketing purposes.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to using reels; whether using step-by-step tutorials taken from older product guides or creating funny skits highlighting customer service interactions – reels have the potential to greatly extend the reach of any campaign beyond just organic reach on Instagram.
By leveraging existing video content for various platforms such as YouTube shorts, TikToks and Instagram reels – businesses have the opportunity unlock untapped potential within previously made material in order grow effectively over social media platforms. I recommend starting by posting the exact same video on all platforms if you are short in time and move later to use each platforms unique tools to change them a bit and finally move to make different content for each one when you have the resources to do so. Have fun and enjoy the time savings!
